Well, I reckon this is about a pair of criminals who are going to do one last crime (possibly a robbery or murder)
"pull the top down, use your knees to drive
i'll make it worth your while, just let me taste the sky
you pressed your mouth on mine and fed me a star
and you said, "we never can truly know who we are."
know who we are"
This could be them driving there, and by pulling the top down and using his knees to drive, it would allow one of them to use their hands to do something while they drive (maybe cover them). "You pressed your mouth on mine and fed me a star" This could be a kiss, where they giove each other one last taste, or, although unlikely, a drug. By saying that they "Never know who we are" could be that they are petty criminals, and if they go down they wouldn't never be remembered.
"this night has only just begun
if there's discretion that you've not abandoned, now's the time.
we'll burn at best the morning sun
go grab your bag, i'll bring the gun. the gun"
Now they talk about how they are heading there, and that they should abandon any discretion to become as effective as possible. "Go grab your bag, I'll bring the gun" is just a reference to the crime (The bag to hold cash, the gun to threaten or kill). "Burning at the morning sun" could mean that they'll be dead by the morning.
"everything was burning bright.
everyone was frightened.
you said, "stay strong."
everybody knowing that what we'd invited still remains when we're gone"
This basically says to me that they've started a fire in a bank (because "everyone was frightened" - they could be hostages). "You said stay strong" could be the other person encouraging his/her love to not fret and worry because they are nearly finished. "everybody knowing that what we'd invited still remains when we're gone" could mean that this entire crime is to try and make them remembered in death.
I overanalyize sometimes, but I love this song so much, the guitar is great and I reckon this has been the best AFI album so far.
I agree that this song could possibly be about committing a crime, because the order of songs on the album has "Beautiful Thieves" preceding "End Transmission". Which I interpret as the song of planning and contemplation, followed by a song about the rush and risk of committing the act.

Overall, Crash Love is a great album. I highly recommend it.
