This song is about his ex-fiance, as are most of the songs. Basically, he's saying that it's the end, as evidenced by the "you can hear the chapter close." The closing chapter means that it's the end of him and her. But he's also saying that he doesn't have anything to complain about, because each day is a new day ("the sun still burns the shadows out").
He also says he can still live life without her, although he wishes she was still there ("You and life remain beautiful"). But he realizes things could be a lot worse, like he could be the ones the sirens are rushing for, etc.
