i think the writer of this band is a reincarnation of that crazy guy from the nineteen twenties.. I would even go on to say the album is supposed to be understood in the context of the 1920s.

this song is about Ian's self-loathing of his lyric writing.

basically he read a poem that made him feel less confidant about his songwriting ability and this was written to reflect his feeling on this issue.
