I'll make the voice talking be a boy (seeing as Miles is singing. But it could be a girl's voice). This song is about a boy telling a girl that even though not a lot of time has gone by, it seems like they have been apart for so long (apart as in broken up). He sees through the illusion of time and realizes that he still has feelings for her but she keeps on thinking that years have gone by. He looks into her eyes and yet they somehow aren't open. He's trying to open her eyes.
Not sure if that's even close to how it was supposed to be written. But that's what I got out of it.
