I don't really have some well thought out/eloquently constructed meaning that will melt your face, but i do skateboard and have recently become much more fascinated by longboards because of a company called Original Skateboards. They make these ridiculous longboarding videos with their skate team and they're all pretty artsy and have amazing soundtracks and "the season" was used in one of their videos and it's really beautiful:
pacotaco185 I'm so glad that you saw that video also!! I actually longboard and when I saw that music video I was so haunted by the amazing song that I instantly had to find out who sang it and get the CD.

I think this song is about reminiscing about times when a relationship or family was much better than it is in the present time. His "dream" in the first stanza is like his memory of a time many years ago.

I think the desert is like a great expanse, a some sort of obstacle (time? distance?)...
I think the desert is like a great expanse, a some sort of obstacle (time? distance?) that separates one person from knowing the the other person geniuinely and intimately . This could maybe be an obstacle of time - (the former love exists years in the past) - or distance (perhaps the person moved away?)
Later I feel like the song moves into a metaphor about dying and what happens. It seems the two have to separate ("I cross the sand without your hand"). The person singing at the moment apparently goes back to a place the two once knew ("I go back to where you and I began".)
I have NO IDEA what "I keep to myself / where I lie" means!
Last I think the person is describing waking up in a stuffy house that is neglected, and the people in it are too. "I woke up in a cave / no air no light no shade" - nobody has been opening the windows to let in sunlight and fresh air, so the air in the house makes it seem like a cave.
