I think that I girl he liked left him while she went away. They kept in touch, writing letters and whatnot. She said she was coming to him so he waited but he realises after a while that she's not coming back and has a hard time coming to terms with it but he gets over it though airports are still a hard place for him to be in because that might be the last place he saw her.
