The whole vibe of optimism kind of makes sense until you reach the lines:

"I'll burn as a way to make light I'll dig your grave..."

Why would you burn to make light? It seems like this part of the song shows the extreme parts of being "the fixer" - when you try to fix everything to the point where you start going insane or maybe because it shows signs of some kind of neurotic attachment? I wonder if this has to do with the Obama administration at all too...not sure

Isn't it just saying the extremes he'd go to for this person?

It's a terribly romantic notion supposedly.
