It's definitely "and ask Albus the same".

The chorus is wrong as well; it's "I pray", not "afraid". I had that mixed up for a while when I first heard the song, too, because it doesn't sound like a very Snapeish thought, but Adam kind of idealises the character (in a way that works for this song, since from his perspective Lily is the best part of him and his love for her his only virtue).

Technical stuff out of the way, this song is gorgeous. I love the opening line; "I would spy on you during playtime." It's humourous, with the 'spy' thing, but that's overshadowed by the poignancy and the tragedy inherent in that, knowing how that would inform Snape's entire life - how he'd only ever be on the outside looking in. The whole first verse has a lovely sound to it, really; the lyrics flow really well, especially with Adam's wonderful voice.

And of course, the last verse.. "And as I'm dying, I look for one last time.. into his face, and into your eyes." Haunting. The play on words is great, but there's so much more in that line than simple wordplay, or even the obvious fact of his death and those eyes being the last thing he sees: it also has hints that maybe Severus finally saw Harry for who he really was in that moment, not just James's son but also Lily's, which ties in nicely with the epilogue and how it's through Harry that he's ultimately vindicated. It's ultimately not enough, of course - Snape is gone, sacrificing himself for the cause he was forced into by his bad choices at an age he couldn't know better, and not there to see that finally, finally, his efforts are appreciated.

I'm going to be seeing the Mudbloods at Wrockstock in November for their very last performance. I just missed out on getting into wizard rock by about a month the last time they performed around here. I predict that it will be amazing, and that every single person will cry. Every one.

I cried both times I heard it live.

Wow, I totally agree!!
