i think its about a relationship that was going really great but maybe some doubts were arising... hence why he's questioning the legitimacy of their love... by asking "did we really fall in love"
that it would be great if she was "the one" but there's the possibility that they are all wrong.
it's that or she dumped him & he's sort of upset that she should have been the one but ... then he wonders if he is right...
basic interpretation but either way i think it's a GREAT song & sort of reminds me of 500 days of summer ... though it doesnt sound like any of the songs in the movie at allll... but it reminds of the jist of the story.
