This reminds me of what I'm sort of going through right now. Summer's coming to a close and I'm starting to think that my relationship was all a summer fling. When the leaves change and sesaon changes, what will happen to us?
During the summer, especially when you're young, summer seems to last forever. You make the best memories and have the most fun. Same goes with relationships. They are carefree and lovely because you have all the time in the world and no school or work to cloud that. In the song, I think he's saying that he thought they could last forever but obviously his girl had other plans. He saw it coming but didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to believe that it was just a fling. But when then he lost it to the weather; fall came and he lost her. Looking back he can see that it was coming all along but being young and stupid he didn't want to beleive that they were ending as a couple.
He wonders how and why she screwed him up so badly and made it seem like they would last if she knew that it was just a fling. He's saying that as time goes by, he begins to get over her and he just never wants to see her again. He doesn't want her to come back to him ever. He figures that she stole his summer right from under him. And that sucks. Big time!
