to me this sounds like a child who loves his family so very much, but cant handle being rejected by them and rejected by soiciety, possibly from abuse. verbal as well as pyshical. so then when he/she grows up, his family "gives him away" to be ready in society by himself, but when he's "gone" he wonders if they still love him and say his name.
