I love this song because it describes my childhood as well. a lot of my childhood memories are brought back to me with the sound of the birds and lawn mowers and plane motors humming by way up in the blue sky. i love this cause it is a song about the love of summer and the melancholy feeling of those summer memories in your mind while facing the new weather patterns of fall and winter. i think this can also be a song about a loved one that has become sick and is quickly dying. "autumn in your eyes" a sign that winter is coming and winter is a symbol of death. "i just wanted a chance to say goodbye" - just wanting one last day to live to the fullest with your loved one. But- "its too cold to play, so im just waiting here thinking on our sunny days" -but you cant have that last day you were hoping for, theres not too much more you can do but be thankful for the good times with your loved one and just accept their passing. i dunno if thats too cliché but the seasons of life comparison always works i guess.
