The second verse really changes the tone of the song when the writer makes a sudden realization that he/she is in fact tired of chasing someone who is clearly unavailable either literally, emotionally, or physically.
The end is a little harder to interpret. But I think it's really a reflection of acceptance and realizing that this situation will pass.
