I think it's generally about a person trying to change and become more positive and happy, and is not quite there yet, like HedgehogPie said. I really love this song, it means a lot to me.

• In my opinion it means that the person is sometimes able to "watch the sun rise" and feel free, but sometimes he just can't do it, so he's trying to change it.

"How many words, will fail me in my negligence To arrest, oh yes, this crazy part of me"

• same thing. The person's trying to be more measured but he just slips sometimes and finds himself saying things he regrets later. things he didn't necessarily mean.

• pretty obvious, making mistakes about trusting ppl that shouldn't be trusted.

"It’s been so long, and the groove in my hearts nearly gone"

• Even though he already went through a lot in his life, he still menages to make a lot of mistakes which tire him and bit by bit take away the groove from his heart.

• Aiming high but reaching only mediocrity.

• Beating himself mentally every time he makes the slightest mistake, thinking of it over and over again. Can't take it anymore.

• Wanting his genuine love for life back by crossing that Rubicon, making that big step of changing.
