I love this song. I would interpret it as being a song about two friends. The girl does everything for the guy and secretly loves him, but he doesn't seem to realize it.
Why would I carry such a weight on my shoulders?
Why do I always help you carry your boulders?
You wonder why I carry such a weight on my shoulders
And why would I tttts such a load
Here she's asking herself (or other people are asking) why she always helps the guy out. Why she's always there to listen to his problems, even though they're not in a relationship.
Why would you try to make me friends with them soldiers
when you know that I've never been familiar with orders
When you know that my heart is in a pretty disorder
And you should know that in my heart you fill every corner
This could be about the guy trying to introduce her to other guys (referred to here as soldiers). She's not interested in other guys though and she thinks he should know that he's the one in her heart.
How long will I sit and wait like a soldier?
How many summers will it take?
How many summers will I wait?
How many shoulders will I break?
She's asking herself how long she still has to wait and how much hurt and disappointment she still has to go through.
Why would I have to quit if time makes me older
Why do they wonder why I never get bored?
And how could I tell them that I'll never let go
But hey, you're my man and they just won't understand
People are telling her she has to get over him and find someone else, but she doesn't want that. She'll never give up on them being together.
I think it fits well with the entire song, but that's just my view on it of course...
