He said: it's something like when you sleep with someone else (that isn't your wife), and on the next day you feel guilty. But you can't change what is done anymore.

I seem to recall reading an interview around the time of teh album's release, Warrel Dane saying people thought it was about Kurt Cobain, but it was more inspired by the death of Layne Staley. Personally, it reminds me of a poem we read in high school, can't think of the poet's name, but it was about a man named George Gray who never took a risk or had an adventure in his life and died regretting it.
