i have always been amazed by the talent of Tom Waits. his lyrics are amazing. i think that this song is simple. it is about when you are just seeking what makes you feel good with no reguard for consiquence. Life is full of pain and suffering but sometimes ( and usuallya t the cost of future torture) you can actually feel good and you cant deny it because it is really the only time you are not suffering.
