I believe that this song is about D-Day to be honest. Although D-Day was successfull, in the eyes of the allied forces, there were thousands of casualties and deaths. Lets think about it, the song talks about going onto shores, this relates to D-Day, the it says, For Something I Will Never Attain, is Matt looking through the eyes of someone with no faith, or someone who is about to suffer?
It then goes on to talk about wandering the shores of Acheron, Acheron, in greek mythology, is the river of pain.
Thats just a few points that make me believe it about D-Day.
Awesome song A+
