To me the meaning of the song is obvious: it is a story of a man and a woman; the relationship ended for some inevitable reason ("white lines that never fade" - that means that one of them, either the boy of the girl, either attempted suicide or was a cutter; I assume its the latter, because of the line "Dance with the pain that you don't mind"); mostly the song is about a boy thinking about his strong-willed, long-lost lover just hoping that she's okay, because that's a sign of true love, even if you're not together you want the other person to be happy and alive and that's all that really matters. Hope my interpretation wasn't too radical but then again I don't care about stupid taboos so what I'll say what I want! (:
