Well you guys all say this doesn't make any sense but to me it kinda looks like an anti-war/anti-government song.

The parents children going out to war and they didn't stop them from doing so.

No matter who thinks they're right, in war everybody dies and they're calling people fools for even trying to win.

People going out to war and the public protesting against it, knowing they'll pay in the end.
