I had of Mangione from Christopher West a teacher and writer of Theology of the Body and in a blog he talked about how he is friends with Mangione and how his music is based off Theology of the Body by Pope John Paul II. With that in mind I think this song is about a woman that was once close to Christ("like a bleeding groom") but lost her faith not becouse of Christ but becouse of the person she became ("Cause oh baby its me not you") The woman has been hurt by other man that have used her for sex.("There's a hidden wound that cries/For every man that's brushed your thigh") This has led the woman to fear truly opening her self up to others.("You flinch with every touch/Hoping he won't take too much") But she still is looking for love with out stings. ("To ask for love is to ask for someone too...But you cover up and play it all again") Christ tells her that he was always with her and that he has bleed for every one. ("I was with you when you left/Behind each and every step...Yes I bleed for them all and I'll be there when you fall") In the end Christ turns things around and says that he wants to give her his heart and that he took the fall for all that she has done. (It's in my heart you'll find/ Which is worth more than gold or silver...Cause oh baby its me not you) Baby it's me its true
