Life is finite, it's end will come. Regina reminds us of this in her observation that the black cat is lucky to be alive, 'because it "wasn't his time YET."

In this finite life, we seek joy, and joy can be found in simple "dirty" childish pursuits, such as picking up "pebbles" and "stones," which one can do as an adult, without a parent screeching about getting dirty hands.

And Regina suggests also there is a simple joy, in giving simple pleasure and delight to others: by turning a penny from 'unlucky' tails to 'lucky' heads, which superstitious people will then find and consider lucky.

And that joy of giving pleasure to others can be found also in providing a more substantial "dime" to a child who will value it much more than the adult dropping it, or even by dropping dollars to those who may need them more than you.

This song is about how easy and how pleasurable it is to give pleasure to others in this brief time we have on earth. :)
