to me this is about how everyone is born into a doomed world/life. in a way, we are all sort of like inmates in a prison: we can't leave the earth, but we can see the world (universe) beyond the prison walls. we aren't even sure if their is a prison guard (god) watching us in the panoptican tower. our only option is to survive and see it through to the end, whether good or bad.
