This is such an amazing song.
There is so much to it, but I think it's about a woman who spent her life in a destructive relationship that she let ruin her life. She worshiped the man she was with and he never got what he needed from her so he became abusive (either verbally or physically). He was her sun. She in turn never felt like she was good enough for him and she just dried up. Unknowingly, she blamed God, she blamed others, and she blamed herself for all that was wrong in her life. She became cold to the world around her and she didn't even know it.
Now that she knows God, she is ashamed with what she let happen in her relationship and she is reconciling with what he let her do and what she did to herself. It had affected her so deeply that she had let the "tragedy" of that relationship rule her life without even being aware of its destruction. When she is redeemed by the Lord she is overwhelmed and any bit of cold heartedness she had is gone. She is healed and overwhelmed with the real love that she gets from the Lord.
I know 2 women right now who really need the Lord, he would heal their entire lives if they let him. Their respective marriages are failing and it's so hard to watch. I wish they could hear this song and know that only hearbreak is ahead if they continue to go it alone.
I registered just to reply to this comment. Way to blame the victim. Victims of abuse do not "let [relationships] ruin [their] live[s]". Abusers ruin the victims' lives.

"He never got what he needed from her" ?? Really? All her fault again, I see. It couldn't of been that he was a physically, emotionally, and/or financially abusive terror who filled her with fear, sadness, hopelessness, and desolation.

Thanks for your thoughts; very insightful and adds meaning to already poignant song. What I was looking for.
