THere was that whole "Sheep and goats" line where he basically tells people to care for the sick, the imprisoned, the hungry, etc. or go to hell...
But yeah, this song has some delicious irony. I think (and FWIW, I'm Christian...oh, it's worse...I'm in seminary aiming for ordained ministry) that it's responding to a particular theology that's become so popular in some circles that people think it's the only theology.
Jesus said some really harsh stuff in the gospels, but most of it seemed aimed at the people who were screwing others and calling it "righteousness," (sound familiar?). Looking at the world, I can understand where the rage comes from.
