Cuba is one of the more prominent streets in Wellington, NZ. Sort of an artsy, bohemian-type place. Knowing that, and the fact that FOTC originated in Wellington, puts this into perspective. Certain other parts are just culturual references-- the only one that might be a little confusing is 'Looking as cool as a Fisher & Paykel'; Fisher & Paykel being a New Zealand-based appliance company. They're probably likening him to the coolness of a fridge, in that sense.
