This song, the way I take it to mean, anyway, is pretty much capped inside that bridge and last chorus.
It is speaking about a girl, and how the first person in this song really loved them. Its talking about this second person as a girl with a dream that will soon lead her away from everything in search of it. The first person says that

For this neverending racetrack we call life.
This means that the second person is probably upset with him about something, but she makes it seem like she thinks its his fault she's always in this 'race'.
