I think this song is talking about how little kids anxiously await Christmas morning, not to celebrate Christ's birth, or family time, but for presents. The title of the song "shinny skin" I think is reffering to the colorful rapping paper on the presents.

The first paragraph is talking about how a kid will try to sleep, but he's so excited about waking up and getting the presents, that he just lays there in anticipation.

"Cause nothing ever can satisfy me like you" talks about how even though the little kids have so much, they still look forward to the things under that shinny skin.

"Tear right through This shiny skin Cause it's a pressure that you cannot escape Tear right through And try to fail Pretending emptiness wants to remain" talks about how impatient the kids are when they tear through the wrapping paper. But then as soon as they are done, the feel empty, because they realise that it's all done.

"The countless images taunt me With promises of surrender What will tomorrow present me with With a distraction from who provided it" Is talking about how they look at the immages in magazines and on TV of all the newest and coolest toys and video games. Yet, they are mistaken of who gave them all of that stuff come Christmas morning (it's God who gave their parents the money to buy the toys, not santa claus).

"Inside this box is a gift And we will soon forget It's not that we want whats inside of it We just wanted to open it (open it) (Open it, open it)" Here, it's saying that kids didn't want the things as much as they just wanted the thrill of getting somthing, and being able to open it.

We can all relate to this song. I'm 14, and it's June, and I already have contemplated of what I want for Christmas. Just makes you think how selfish we all are, with all the stuff we already have.

God bless you guys. :)
