Thinking more objectively, this song seems to be about a forbidden relationship between a nun and a priest. The lyrics are full of allusions. "In the meadow of sinful thoughts" is quite religious to begin with. "To paradise, with pleasure haunted by fear" so you engage in the act but it's bittersweet even though it feels like paradise. "A burning veil/For the bride too dear for him" think of 'taking the veil' which means a girl becoming a nun and she becomes a 'bride of Christ'.But it's a burning veil now, because of both burning desire which makes the veil a burden and the idea of hell. "Bless me, undress me" - 'Bless me Father, for I have sinned'.Think of the confessional. "Pick your prey in a wicked way" implies power abuse. "God I must confess..../.....I do envy the sinners" quite intended pun, here. The theme of confession again, but a sardonic one because it is not the sin she confesses, but rather the fact that she envies the sinners and is cheeky enough to say it now and it isn't to a priest this time, but to God in her mind, the reason for which might be that after what's been done, she doesn't really respect the agents of authority anymore, like she's done with it.
