Honestly, I think it is about God. & I disagree with you PorcelainXombie. "Like the knife you stuck into my back" doesn't have to be a symbol of betrayal in this song. It could mean that God did something in his life to punish him, hurt him and show him he needs to turn back to him and "pick up the pieces". It could've been about a punishment from God he had to face that finally woke him and and made him think he needs to start all over. A Christian guy in a Christian band would not talk about a girl being his "home".
