They are about the singer telling Sally how much he loves her, and he doesn't want her to leave (to go to work, say). When he says he doesn't want her to leave, he means both right now, stay with him and forever, be with him. The tone is all wrong for a kidnapping song.

That was the only conceivable reason I could think of that she would be leaving in the middle of the night (moon and stars above).
