First of all, the official lyrics are indeed wrong and his lyrics are accurate.
Second, I do think that it's a song of vengeance and hatred. The music doesn't exactly fit the description of sad. It's a bit somber in the beginning but the tone of it becomes very sharp and a tad hateful. So I think that they got into a fight over something such as her cheating on him and as she hastily left, she dropped her pills for some disease that she has. And I think that he found out this way.
So I think that she called to tell him that she was dying and she needed her pills to hang on, but he won't give them back. It seems like that to me. He wants her to die for putting him into so much pain. And also I'm guessing that she has AIDs or something which would make it even more ironic. Since she cheated on him and probably got them in that act.
