The Wedding Song Lyrics

To me, this song is about AIDS.

The man narrating the song knows he's infected, and yet he still takes a runaway girl home with him (I'm not sure if they knew e/o previously). She was young, and innocently believed she couldn't possibly become ill. He infects her: "You went with a man Who has led to the slaughter right now".

He didn't/doesn't love her; he just wanted her so badly in the moment. Now that she's infected too, he figures they may as well remain together romantically, even though their relationship is devoid of genuine love. He supposes they should live the illusion, since no one else will want them.

I don't feel the man regrets his actions. This is a fatalistic song, and his attitude almost seems to be 'It happened, I infected you, get over it and stay with me, as now I'm your best bet for love before you die.'
