JustLikeMagic, wrong again. I am sure you were in Kuwait..... the song is about the conflict in Ireland. It was recorded in Dublin. No wonder the Stones don't sing political songs. Too many people want to use those songs for their own agenda. Although you do have one thing right. One of the best most poignant song ever written. You can truly feel the intensity of this song and its true meaning.

Most songs (like this one) are intentionally very vague so everyone is free to interpret.
