personally i think it is about his relationship with God and the environment around him. "Between you and me, I think it's pretty sad that were singing the same songs, humming the same songs." - So many people just think that they are Christians because they go to church and follow all the other Christians, branch out and be your own person in Christ
"Don't you see what this means
to me?" - He's telling people to stop messing with religion and stop playing games with God because it means so much to him and to Him.
"Oh my god
there must be something left to
write.
The two best words to sum
up my whole life." - He is crying out to God, there must be something else not so cliche and not so overused to say to You to let you know i love You, and the two words are love and sacrifice."
"This is the story of our lives from the road we sit and watch it pass by. Is this the best use of my
time? Don't worry my love everything's alright.I'd give just about anything to know shes
waiting for me." - He is kinda comparing his beliefs to something that just passes by slowly without being able to do anything about it. He is questioning why he is a Christian in the first place and if it really is true that Jesus loves him. He just hopes that one day God will be waiting for him in Heaven to say "Well done, good and faithful servant."
"It will make you say o God why was i wrong i missed all the meaning when
it was spelled out all along." - This is from the perspective of other people who don't believe in God, they are saying, How could I have missed Him and His love when it was right in front of my face this whole time?
I personally think it's less religious and more along the lines of him being disappointed that artists are selling out more and more and just writing what's Popular
"I think it's kind of sad how we're singing the same songs" that's probably a more accurate translation than bringing up religion when it's probably not even clear that anyone in the band is even religious. I don't mean to sound anti-religion far from it it's just not always about a religous belief

"don't you see what this means to me"
as an artist the lyricist is passionate about his his art and the art laid out by his predecessors and that it's being cheapened by so many untrue groups
"oh my god there must be something else to write the two best words to sum up my life"
here he's more than likely making a statement about how he feels that everything has been written and is frustrated about the lack of originality in music
and as for the lyrics
"It will make you say oh god why was I wrong I missed all the meaning when it was spelled out all along"
it's probably a more geared towards the realization that what's popular isn't artistically right or even good
