The narrator of the novel narrates "Mark Knopfler has an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff beer [...]". That is supposedly referencing this song, or so I have heard. I love the song, I only listened to it the other day, after discovering that Douglas Adams made reference to it.
