I think its about how our gods and religions, which are merely deceptive inventions and illusions, cause us to ignorantly accept the religious explanations for the universe, halting our active minds. This makes us unwilling to seek alternative answers to ultimate questions, preventing us from fully experiencing all the mystery and wonder of the universe, and discovering the revelations that science has to offer us.

However, I don't think that its necessarily an atheistic song. It doesn't condemn the concept of God, but suggests that blind belief in religious teachings stunts mankind's development. It is possible to believe in both God and Science, but just like the rest of civilisation, religion must change, develop and adapt as the human race becomes more advanced.

As the Sun is the "giver of life" for our planet, the "Artificial Sun" may be a metaphor for God, and "No alteration" may reference the reluctance of religious believers to alter and adapt their beliefs and teachings, or possibly mankind's lack of development.

My Interpretation

it's talking about accepting the ideal of the holographic model, which in my opinion makes more sense then religion and science combined. otherwise i think you a did a great job interpreting it. read the book Holographic Universe by Micheal Talbot if your interested in the holographic model of reality
