"That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful" Great song isn't it?
I am afraid you are all mistaken it is not about drugs it is about sex.... as in "That Loving Spoonful" (Also a name of a 70's band) A 'loving spoonful' means a quantity of ejaculate. Don't laugh...that IS what this is about. Read the words again with this in mind. I know this is true as it was commonly undrestood to be what the song was about in the 70s and I read an old blues music review book back then that confirmed it. The old blues singers used to weave all sorts of sexual meanings into their songs, if you listen carefully. In fact even the origins of the word JAZZ means much the same as JIZZ/having sex...you are laughing again aren't you, but it IS TRUE, I swear! The JAZZ players used to work in the working cathouses to create atmosphere and attract customers which is how it came about.
