My interpretation of this song is that the singer was in a relationship with someone whom he loved very dearly, but she no longer loved him back. As shes 'walking' away from him he is thinking to himself that she might have been the one, yet from some of the things he says it sounds as if he is letting her go. He's upset that he can't be with her anymore, but in the end hes just happy to have met her and to have loved her at all.
Well thats just what I think anyways. But this song is amazing and it pretty much sums up how i feel about the recent breakup between my ex-girlfriend and I a month and a half ago. We dated for two years and I thought she was the one, but I guess not :(
