This song is pretty straight forward. It's sung from the point of view of a man who is confronting the man his wife cheated on him with. The husband tells the other man that his wife still loves him and calls the other man a monster. Line by line, the husband loses confidence in what he's saying until he's almost chanting just to comfort himself. The other man has no reaction the entire time. Finally the husband begs the other man to say something. When the other man doesn't, the husband begins to leave. Finally the other man tells the husband what he's known all along. His wife no longer loves him. The love left without warning and there's no way to get it back. His wife now loves the other man and couldn't be happy with the husband ever again.

What I get from the song is a husband confronting an wife's past lover who wouldn't back off when they got married (Now when you saw your lover wore a ring around her finger, why didn't you stop). Apparently the cheater used to have a life with the woman, including kids, and disregards their happiness to be with the woman (Think about your children they'll never believe what you've done). Knowing that the current marriage is potentially over, the husband condemns the man to guilt for the "wreckage" he's created. Rather than blaming the wife, the husband blames the man....

I figured it's coming from the victim's point of view, speaking to indeed the wife's past lover. BUT! "And I hope you see us Your wife and your children and I" The other man had a family of his own with another woman. I think the victim doesn't have children, let alone the other man's children. I agree on the victim losing faith in his wife line by line, and I also agree with her being happy with her previous lover. This is hands down my favorite band of all time, and this is definitely my favorite song. Such power, such emotion. Indescribable....
