I think it is about if i choose to follow a faith will it cure me or lead me blindly through life, in no search for truth but only the truth i want to hear. I don't know if it is about religion but if it was I think when it says "If only we could heal ourselves we wouldn't need to be hooked up to these machines" its saying if we would just try ourselves to fix a problem in life you wouldn't need to believe and praying to a higher power for help (religion being the machine).

This one, in particular, is about something traumatic happened and the 'healing process' was told to be 'finding a place on your own and just being alone for a bit'. Alone, with no one to talk to (because everyone would repeat the same thing) is the source of potential suicide.
This is the aftermath of that song. His potential suicide and what he went through after...and realizing that there is no healing a broken heart and there is no mending what damage you did to yourself. And that's due to the society that we live in, even today a decade after your comment. We live in a society that inherently ridicules male depression as being "stupid, be a man".
And this song was a direct response to that, but very nuanced. There is no reference to actually 'doing' drugs, but you are prescribed drugs upon this scenario.
As a mid 30s male, I'm telling you (potentially mid 30s as well now) that's what this is about. I'm sure that's irrelevant now in your life...but hey, just a little fact pre-valentines day.
