The song is obviously about drugs but it might be about how you are "chained" to them and it's better to stop. It's true that Noel has been an addict, but it's also true that he has said before that eventhough he used them and he enjoyed every minute of it, if he could go back maybe he wouldn't do it because he knows that they are addictive and he doesn't like to depend on anything. He also says that he knows that drugs "at the end destroy" so i guess that he could be talking about leaving them.
