okay, so they started off being best friends. and they were really close...and they were always meant to be together from the very beginning. and later in their lives, they realized what was meant to be all along so they became more to fulfill that. and although they were so in love...something changed. whether someone cheated, or there was a misunderstanding, or they just grew apart for whatever reason, they weren't the "them" they used to be. but i personally think that they had to find themselves. and to find themselves, they couldn't have each other. so they separated. but the writer of this song knows they're meant to be together, and at some point in their life, they'll find each other, because thats what they were meant for all along.
