I know this is impossible to verify, so please believe me, but I have actually asked Kimya Dawson face-to-face who this song was for and she said Julian Lennon. I'm a huge Strokes fan and, knowing their tour history, initially thought it was for Casablancas as well. I heard this song for the first time at a really small show of hers and talked to her about it afterwards and she said it was for Julian Lennon and his use of auto tone when he sings. It's supposed to be about his disconnection from the music in using voice enhancement (i.e. "singing machine").
