i think this song is about some friend's of the band. from what i heard (and remember), this guy has gone swimming after taking some drugs (acid i believe) and he ended up getting separated from the rest of the guys present and drowning. this song is a eulogy in remembrance of the guy.
kind of reminds me of a story my dad used to tell me. he and his friends used to go cliff diving on the shores of southern cali, and one time his friend's little brother got caught in an undertow and sucked into an underwater cave and drowned. :/ life can be sad.
