To me, this seems like J writing about cheating on his the one woman he truly ever loved.

This verse explains why he was suicidal. I think this happened in the stages of the band getting a record deal. Even after he wasn't there for her, she comes and takes care of him while he was sick. Now all he can think about is the one solid relationship he had, and how empty the groupies, fakes, and "friends" are making him feel.
i disagree..if you beleive house carpenter is about a significant other killing themselves and the grief that follows.
Then this verse would make alot of sence if it is about him realising that killing himself would leave others in the posistion he has been through.
