Regardless, I think we can all agree that the song is about young, care-free love. My personal interpretation is that of young love between long-term friends. I interpret this partly because of the line:

"Children behave That's what they say when we're together And watch how you play"

Which seems to indicate both a young age and that the children are not necessarily assumed to be in a relationship.

To me personally, this song brings to mind my life in Brisbane before moving to Sydney, playing with my neighbour. It also brings to mind my time spent in Southern Canada with my now fiancé, escaping the house and just rolling in the grass. (innocently)
