Up until today, I would agree with walruspancakes on what this song is here for, but after delving into Wikipedia a little, and reading about the pop culture of House of Leaves, I think this song is influential from House of Leaves. Granted, it's been a few years since I've read the book, but the overall labyrinth-theme is played into music pretty well through this song.
