Actually, I really don't think that his life was boring.
Doing some background research, he literally hit rock bottom in his life. He was diagnosed with two different
types of illnesses and his mother had just been diagnosed with cancer, as well as him having to go through a
bad break up.
This song is more about how you get stuck in the bad moments in life, and you feel like you can't get out of
them. He also mentions that you want something bigger to happen, something to make all of this pain and
heartache disappear. He says "when you think to yourself this is it, this is it" he's referring to the idea
that "this is all. This is how my life is going to be. Dark and full of pain."
That's just my personal opinion. But I don't think it has anything to do with being "bored".
