I think I'm the only one that thinks about a relationship that fails in this song.
Obviously I might be wrong but every song is open to personal interpretation I believe and it speaks to me the most when I think of it this way.
It makes me think of someone I was once with and how he searched for the approval of those who all thought the same way, the "mechanical animals" if you will and slipped away from me. I knew they would never care for him in the way that I had. But he was too far gone and I had to accept that I was never going to be the one for him and he would not let me in nor let me be the one to save the world for him. Now I talk to him and he's just like the others.
I don't know, that's how I see it anyway. Makes me think of that movie Brick.
@perfectXfit I definitely see the song in that light... yeah it's too bad, they will never understand her or care for her the way I do; she should be letting the wrong ones go out of her life but she never does because she can't see things from my perspective.
